Why it matters
Huawei has been pushing back into the Gulf for two years, and the Pura series is sold officially in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. But this launch is China-only for now, with no word on a global rollout or an AED price. In Europe, the Pura 90 Pro arrived weeks after China, so if the Plus comes to the Gulf, it is likely after next month. The main caveat for a Gulf buyer is unchanged: HarmonyOS 7 without Google services, and that comes before any excitement about the camera.
My take
The Plus is the Pura that should have launched first: the Pro’s 1-inch sensor and variable aperture at a price closer to the regular model. CNY 5,499 converts to roughly AED 3,000, and if it reaches the Gulf anywhere near that, it is the strongest camera in its price bracket. Its one weakness is not the hardware; it is the apps. If your banking and government apps run on HarmonyOS, this is a real photographer’s phone. If not, wait.
