Leak: One UI 10 is a "complete overhaul" of Samsung’s interface, "unprecedented" changes per Ice Universe, on Android 18, possibly renamed Galaxy OS

One UI 9 only reached Galaxy A phones last week, and Samsung, according to two separate leaks, is working on something much bigger for the next version. A source close to Nokia Power User (relayed by GSMArena on Friday) says One UI 10 is not an annual refresh but a complete overhaul with "a major shift in design philosophy". The same day, leaker Ice Universe wrote on X that his independent source confirmed One UI 10 will bring changes that are "significant, unprecedented in nature", and when asked when, answered with one word: "Fold9".

What changes
| App interaction | Instead of switching between calendar, maps and messages, one contextual view groups related information, an expanded Now Nudge, with AI anticipating what you need |
|---|---|
| Complexity | Fewer taps, fewer hidden menus, fewer layers, and "no dead ends" |
| Ecosystem | Smoother handoffs between phone, tablet and watch |
| AI | A possible two-tier model: everyday features free, advanced tools and third-party integrations behind a subscription (unconfirmed) |
| Base | Android 18, developed with Google, with developer previews before release |
| Timing | Ice Universe: with the Galaxy Z Fold9 (mid-2027) · NPU source: it may miss the Fold9/Flip9 and ship with the Galaxy S29; the two conflict |
| Name | A separate rumour from leaker Phonefuturist about a rename to "Galaxy OS"; unconfirmed, and Ice Universe did not mention it |
Why it matters
Samsung gives 7 years of updates to the Galaxy S26, Z Fold8 and Flip8 and 6 years to recent A-series phones, so any device you buy today will get One UI 10, and the source itself advises not to delay a purchase because of it. The Gulf usually receives One UI in the first or second wave after Korea, as it did with One UI 9 last month.
My take
"Unprecedented" from Ice Universe is not casual language; he usually leaks numbers, not feelings. But "a contextual view instead of apps" is an idea we have heard from Google with Pixel and from Apple with Siri AI, and the hard part is not the idea but executing it without losing the One UI features we love: Good Lock, multi-window and DeX. And if the subscription turns out to be real, it would be the first time Samsung puts part of its interface behind a paywall, which is the real story if it is confirmed.
