Google tests a system "status bar" for Wear OS watches: time plus one indicator above every app, in the canary build only and not coming with Wear OS 7.1

Google published a Wear OS 7.1 canary emulator (Android 17) with a system-level status bar that draws the clock and the single highest-priority indicator (mic, location, connectivity, battery) over any app, hides on scroll and returns after two seconds. Google is asking developers for feedback and says plainly it will not ship with Wear OS 7.1, so a bigger change is coming later, most likely Wear OS 8.
