iPhone Duo on the UAE resale market: offers of up to AED 25,000 for the 2TB model, shops flipping 256GB units at an AED 8,000 margin, and new Apple orders now arriving in January

Yesterday we wrote that iPhone Duo stock sold out at some retailers within hours. Today the picture is clearer: a full resale market formed in the UAE within 24 hours. According to Khaleej Times, the 2TB model, officially AED 13,599, has drawn offers of up to AED 25,000, and a Deira seller says he bought four 256GB units and sold each at an AED 8,000 margin within an hour. A third reseller booked more than 30 units, sold 14 at roughly AED 7,000 profit each, and is holding ten while waiting for prices to climb.

The numbers
| Storage | Official UAE price | Reported resale |
|---|---|---|
| 256GB | AED 8,499 | About AED 8,000 over list (Deira seller) |
| 512GB | AED 9,349 | — |
| 1TB | AED 11,049 | — |
| 2TB | AED 13,599 | Offers up to AED 25,000 (+11,400) |
| Shop stock | Extel Mobiles received only 3 units on day one; next delivery in November | |
| Ordering from Apple now | Delivery in January 2027, per the Apple Store (GSMArena and a reseller quoted by Khaleej Times) | |
Who is buying in these quantities? Onmanorama’s launch-day report mentions buyers who flew in from Russia and Uzbekistan specifically for Dubai, a group that pre-booked 42 units for AED 600,000, and a buyer who ordered eight 2TB units to sell in Uzbekistan, where the phone has not launched. A large part of the demand is not local at all: Dubai has become the shipping point for markets Apple did not cover.
Why it matters
If you want a Duo at the official price in the Gulf, the realistic path now is ordering from the Apple Store and waiting until January, or watching the big retailers in November. Anything above AED 13,599 for the 2TB model is a speculation price, and the region’s foldable history says the premium collapses after the second batch: the same report notes Samsung’s tri-fold sold at roughly AED 8,000 over list in its first days last year. More importantly, Apple has reportedly raised factory orders by more than 40%, so stock is coming.
My take
AED 25,000 for a first-generation phone with no Face ID and no telephoto says nothing about the device and everything about scarcity and the export market to Russia and Central Asia. If you have one and do not need it, this is the week to sell. If you want one, do not pay a dirham over list: two months of patience saves you the price of a whole iPhone 18.
