Apple’s official iPhone Duo case (AED 319) needs adhesive to stay on; know this before October 23

|---|---|
| iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand (Taupe) | 529 درهم — $129 بأمريكا — فوليو بمسند |

The iPhone Duo reaches its first buyers next Friday, and the first surprise is the case, not the phone. Per 9to5Mac and GSMArena, users who received the phone and the official case early, including Parker Ortolani on X on October 16, found that Apple’s official "iPhone Duo Case" (the sites call it the silicone case) ships with an internal adhesive strip on both sides that you peel and press onto the phone. Without the adhesive the case does not hold and slides off easily, and once removed the adhesive does not grip the same way again.

What does Apple say?
There is no official comment on the adhesive. The product page on Apple’s UAE store describes a two-part case that is "thin and light", made of polycarbonate with a matte coating, with "built-in magnets" for alignment and faster MagSafe charging; so the magnets are for MagSafe charging, not for holding the case, and the adhesive does that job.
UAE prices
| iPhone Duo Case (Navy Blue) | AED 319, $79 in the US; two pieces, internal adhesive per user reports |
|---|---|
| iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand (Taupe) | AED 529, $129 in the US; folio with a kickstand |
| Adhesive-free alternatives | Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro and ESR Classic Hybrid with kickstand (Gulf prices vary by store) |
Why it matters
Anyone who ordered a Duo at AED 8,499 and up collects it on October 23 at an Apple Store, pickup only, and most will add the official case to the same order. If you swap cases or like going caseless now and then, this case is not for you: the adhesive is a one-time decision.
My take
Apple, the company that invented MagSafe so we would never need adhesive, goes back to adhesive on the most expensive iPhone it has ever made, without a word about it on the product page. I understand the engineering reason: a folded phone leaves no room for a rim that grips the edges. But AED 319 for a case that is "consumed" the first time you remove it is a hard number. If you are buying an official case, get the Folio with Kickstand, or wait two weeks for the Spigen and ESR cases to reach UAE stores and for the first reviews to land.
