Google announced the Fitbit Edge to replace the Charge 6: a bigger screen, aluminium body and a real button, for under half the price of a Pixel Watch 5.
| Price | $179.99 (~AED 661) · Stephen Curry edition $219.99 (~AED 808) |
|---|---|
| Design | AMOLED 46% larger than Charge 6, 11.5mm aluminium, IP68, 5ATM |
| Sensors | Heart rate, ECG, SpO2, skin temperature, GPS and altimeter |
| Battery | Up to a week; first Fitbit with a replaceable battery |
| Compatibility | Android and iPhone (quick replies Android only) |
Why it matters
Google did not mention the Gulf, and Fitbits usually reach us late via retailers. The bigger point for us: there is no NFC (nor mic or speaker), so no payments, and paying from your wrist is an everyday habit in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
My take
GPS, ECG and a replaceable battery at a fair price, but skipping NFC in 2026 is odd. Great for fitness tracking; to pay from your wrist, get a watch.
